Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication (1999)

Californication es el séptimo álbum de estudio de la banda estadounidense de rock alternativo Red Hot Chili Peppers, lanzado el 8 de junio de 1999 por Warner Bros. Records. Producido por Rick Rubin, Californication marcó el regreso de John Frusciante, quien había aparecido previamente en Mother's Milk (1989) y Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), como el guitarrista de la banda, en reemplazo de Dave Navarro. Con el regreso de Frusciante la banda cambió su estilo, resultando grabaciones radicalmente diferentes a las producidas con Navarro. El álbum incorporó varias insinuaciones sexuales comúnmente asociadas a la banda, pero también introdujo temas sobre lujuria, muerte, contemplaciones de suicidio y drogas.

Californication contiene varios éxitos de la banda, entre los cuales se incluyen "Around the World", "Otherside", "Californication" y "Scar Tissue", ganadora de un premio Grammy. Californication alcanzó el puesto 3 en el Billboard 200 estadounidense. Actualmente, sigue siendo el álbum más comercial de los Chili Peppers, con más de quince millones de copias vendidas alrededor del mundo; una revitalización comercial en comparación a su álbum anterior, One Hot Minute.
